Our adoption process begins with filling out the Adoption Inquiry Application for your desired pet. We carefully assess factors such as history, temperament, and special needs to determine the best home placement for our pets. Some pets may have multiple applicants. Therefore, an application does not guarantee you will be approved for a specific pet. It is recommended to list multiple pets of interest on your application in order of preference. Our goal is to find the perfect match between you and our pets!
Once approved for adoption, you will fill out the Adoption Agreement and pay the Adoption Fee sent to your phone as a link. All cats and kittens will be altered before going home. We do not allow kittens to go home before spay/neuter surgery is performed. As a standard of care, our adoptions include spay/neuter, FVRCP Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Dewormer, and Flea Prevention (Capstar). We do not perform FIV/FeLV testing nor any additional Veterinary services such as blood work, PCR Testing or any other service thought of or implied.
Our Adoption Coordinator will review your application and contact you by text or email for a brief interview. We may schedule a home visit (first time pet owner) or obtain a vet reference (established pet history). You will be notified of approval and asked to proceed to steps 3 and 4. If you are not contacted within 48 hours of an application, please reach out to make sure your application was received.
Upon completion of steps 1-4, your adoption may be finalized and you can make an appointment to pick up your new family member! Be sure to arrive picture ready! We like to take "Happytails" photos of you and your new furbaby. We will send you home with a sample bag of Hills Science Diet. Join our “Hearts To Homes Happytails Stories” Facebook group and share updates of your pet to keep us updated. We love to see cute pictures and videos and this gives the opportunity for others to enjoy them too. Let’s build a community around our wonderful pets.
We feed HIll’s Science Diet for a happier healthier pet. Our organization is part of the HIll’s Shelter Program. Through this program, we purchase our food at a huge savings discount. This food is Veterinary recommended and our cats LOVE it! A high quality nutritional diet is essential for all pets. It is also important for animals to have the same diet and not change from food to food which can cause diarrhea. We recommend you continue feeding HIlls. If you do decide to transition to a new food, do so slowly and use a probiotic daily. Please consider donating to our Hill’s Shelter Food Fund to help us keep the kitties fed. There is no cheaper food resource available for our cats. Just $15 will buy one 35 pound bag of Hill’s Kitten. We are able to order and have a semi truck deliver this food weekly.
